Cherry Valley Lodge Arboretum & Botanical Garden
Believed to be the nation’s only hotel recognized by the American Public
Gardens Association, Cherry Valley Lodge is the perfect destination to
experience the joy of discovery. In a magnificent collection of more than 2,000 plantings and some 400 species, Cherry Valley recaptures the tradition of wandering in the woods or
through a garden to discover botanical treasures.
Our knowledgeable staff has identified, labeled and mapped each specimen in a labor of love
that is ongoing. The process ensures that the Cherry Valley Lodge Arboretum & Botanical
Garden accomplishes its mission; to showcase the diversity of plants in all seasons in functional landscapes.
The Gazebo Garden
Long a favorite spot for photos, weddings and peaceful repose, this
verdant garden, features a variety of trees, shrubs and masses of
flowers, adding splashes of color, spring through autumn. The offshore
gazebo, with its plank walkway, highlights this garden, offering a
dramatic spot from which to view the pond and its surrounding flora
and fauna. A winding natural stone path takes visitors on a journey
of discovery.
The Cascade Garden
This woodsy garden showcases trees and shrubs...Mother Natures’
portrait in browns and greens. Stepping stones meander through a
collection of rare and beautiful specimens such as three-flower maple
(Acer triflorum) and Turkish hazel (Corylus contorta). Heirloom varieties
including beautybush (Kolkwitzia amabilis) and winter honeysuckle
(Loricera fragrantissima) add a touch of history. A steep
slope, wearing a crown of spruce trees, gives birth to twin streams,
which cascade into a larger pond below.
